Given the rapidly evolving impact of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) across the globe, including Canada and here in Quebec, and in light of the growing Government restrictions, I regret to inform you that this year's Games for Hope event will be postponed until June 2021.
Faced with the series of measures and restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Quebec provincial government and public health authorities have called for the cancellation of all public and non essential events, and more specifically events attracting 250 or more people. Due to the size and scope of the Games for Hope event, we really had no choice but to cancel the 2020 edition of our event.
Different levels of government, municipalities, and businesses are cancelling or postponing public gatherings, sporting and entertainment events, and numerous school boards also cancelling classes. Almost every major sporting league has postponed their schedules and/or cancelled future events. Musical event and concerts, as well as travel and hospitality related industries have shut down or curtailed operations significantly. Trade shows and conferences are being cancelled or postponed. Games For Hope takes our social responsibility extremely seriously and our foremost priority is to protect the health and safety of all those involved in our mission. Please rest assured that we will work diligently behind the scenes to make next year's event even bigger and better!
We thank you for your understanding and support, and are looking forward to a larger and more successful event in 2021.
